REAL MODS

Here's the classic Mod Stompers By the short-lived the High Numbers (before they bacame the Who back in 1964).
The name was a reference to the T-shirts with numbers that the mods (a popular youth movement in Britain) used at the time. The band had the same line-up as The Who did: Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend, John Entwistle and Keith Moon. They released just one single, “I’m The Face/Zoot Suit”, by Fontana records. The single didn’t reach the high positions of the charts, and The High Numbers were rejected by EMI. The band readopted the name “The Who” after this fiasco.

This is the rare and amazing live footage from The High Numbers perform "Ooh Poo Pah Doo" and "I Gotta Dance To Keep From Crying" at the Railway Hotel 1964. Enjoy this original sound and style of mid-60s London Town!!!
